Bacn (pronounced “bacon”) is a new problem now plaguing our email inboxes. Putting it simply, Bacn is email you receive that isn’t spam… And isn’t personal mail. It’s the middle class of email. It’s notifications of a new post to your Facebook wall or a new follower on Twitter. It’s the Google alert for your name and the newsletter from your favorite company.

Thats right Google Reader finally has a search box. I had been wishing for a search box for ages and finally its here.
Reader Search lets you use keywords to find items in your subscriptions. If you subscribe to someone’s shared items, it’ll search those too.
Other Reader enhancements:
- You can now hide the side navigation by clicking on the separator to its right.
- Unread counts now go to 1,000
- Reader now behaves like every other web page and lets you use the forward and back buttons to move between folders and subscriptions that you’ve navigated to.

Recently I signed up for Hertz’s #1 club membership and I got assigned a new member number. I did not pay much attention to the assigned member number. Little did I know that you have to memorize or print the member number. It is required for login. I had assumed that they would include my member number in their welcome email but it doesnt. You can retrieve your forgotten password but no way of retrieving the forgotten member number.
Lesson to be learnt: Always include a new members username/member number in the welcome email you send out or a way to retrieve it in the future.
Update: I received an email from Hertz #1 Club Service saying I can contact their Customer Service hotline to retrieve my member number. They have also sent me a Hertz membership card.

Lately have started reading feeds via Google Reader and realized that there is no way to search within your subscribed feeds. Would have thought Google would include a Gmail type search. I know you can add a Star or tag but still.
